In a nutshell
A digital gift fits behind a door when it arrives as a link, an email or a code, and the vendor’s own page says where it works. Twelve are in the table below with the price or rule each vendor printed, read October 25, 2026, plus the free gifts that sit happily beside them.
- An Audible gift membership costs $15 for one month and $150 for twelve in the US store, read October 25, 2026, and does not auto-renew.
- Google Play delivers a gift card by link, email or phone number in nine countries, and a card cannot be redeemed outside the country where it was bought.
- Airbnb and Netflix cards do not expire according to their own pages; a Netflix card cannot be applied to an account billed through Apple.
- Spotify’s US page says gift cards are no longer available for purchase, so a shared playlist is the gift there.
- The free routes need no vendor: an Unlisted YouTube video, a shared Google Photos album, a voice memo, a library e-book.
Disclosure: some links on this page are affiliate links, marked by the digital gifts and subscriptions they name. As an Amazon Associate, AdventMyFriend earns from qualifying purchases. A purchase through these links may earn the site a commission at no cost to you, and it never affects what is recommended. How this works.
Somewhere in the month, one door should be a proper present: a card, a membership or a voucher that reaches someone far away without a trip to the post office. This page is about that door. It belongs to the cluster that starts at what to put in a digital advent calendar, where one door in 24 is a gift and the other 23 are not. The maker is free, with 24 doors and no account, and the calendar goes out as one link; the email address you give is used once, for the secret edit link.
The site earns a commission on some links to digital gifts, which does not affect what is described. Amazon gift cards are named below as a gift and carry no link. Everything in the table is what the vendor’s own page printed on the date shown, and where a page prints nothing the cell says so.
What the vendors' own pages print
Every line here was read on October 25, 2026. A country in a cell means the page’s own country scope; a store means the store the price was read in.
| Gift | How it arrives | Price or denominations | Country rule | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audible gift membership | The page does not describe how the gift is delivered | 1 month $15 (1 credit), 3 months $45, 6 months $90, 12 months $150, US store | Not stated on the page | |
| Google Play gift card | Share link, email or phone number, “typically delivered within the hour”; scheduling in the app up to one year ahead, mobile only, in select regions | A catalog of brands and denominations in the buyer’s country; daily purchase limit $1,000 in the US, £1,000 in the UK, €855 in Germany, France and Italy, $1,400 in Australia and Canada | Gifting in nine countries (Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the UK, the US); not redeemable outside the country of purchase | |
| Airbnb gift card | Email, at once or scheduled for a future date; a text message with a shareable link; a physical card by post in the US and Canada | Value locked at purchase; no denominations printed; a personal note of up to 150 characters | Digital cards in 19 countries, billing address and payment method in the buying country; cards do not expire | |
| Netflix gift card | Digital cards by email with the code in the message; some by SMS with a redemption link | No denominations printed on the page | A card from another country works if it is in the same currency as the Netflix bill; not for accounts billed through Apple or in a Netflix-included package; cards do not expire | |
| Disney+ gift card | The page does not say when a digital card is delivered | $25 to $200, and $25 to $500 for digital cards | US; Disney-billed Disney+ and bundle subscriptions, not Hulu, Apple or Verizon billed; “carry no expiration date” | |
| Headspace gift | Email with a redeem button; the buyer picks the send date at checkout; sent at once if dated today | Not printed on the page | Not stated; individual plans only, not Family plans | |
| Apple Gift Card | The shop page does not describe email delivery, a send date or a message | Three presets: $25, $50, $100 | “Valid only for U.S. transactions in Apple properties”; funds go to the Apple Account balance | |
| PlayStation Store eGift, on a reseller’s page | Email with the sender’s message, an optional photo or video, and a link; date and time can be scheduled by email or text | $10 to $250: a custom amount or $25, $50, $100, $250 | US; an adult US-registered account (18+); that card “expires on 01/01/2035” | |
| Nintendo eShop card | Retail cards redeemed with a 16-character code; the page does not describe email delivery | The page prints no amounts | A Nintendo Account set to an eShop country | |
| Tinggly experience eVoucher | An eVoucher delivered instantly as a PDF; the page does not say it is emailed | Not printed on the shop page; a physical box costs $10.00 shipping | Ships worldwide; the recipient picks one experience and books it; “no expiration date” | |
| Spotify gift card | Not sold: the US page says cards “are no longer available for purchase” | Existing cards still redeem | The account country must match where the card was bought | |
| Amazon eGift card | Email, text message or a shareable link; email or text can be scheduled up to a year from purchase | Denominations not stated on the page | US page; the payment method is billed within two days of the scheduled delivery date, and the order cannot be cancelled in that window |
The PlayStation row comes from a reseller’s page, not Sony’s, and the figures are the reseller’s. Where a cell says the page does not describe delivery or prints no amount, that is the vendor’s page being silent, not a gap in the gift.
Good to know Delivery on the day is a feature of the vendor, not of the calendar. Google Play, Airbnb, Headspace, PlayStation (on the reseller’s page) and Amazon let the buyer choose a send date, so you can buy early, tick it off your list, and have the card turn up on the morning of its door.
What the paid gifts cannot do
The limits are on the vendors’ own pages, and they’re the reason the table has a country column. Worth a read before you click buy:
- A Google Play card does not cross a border. Google says a gift card cannot be redeemed outside the country where it was bought, and a scheduled delivery cannot be cancelled, rescheduled or resent by the buyer. Google also asks that you do not enter a phone number without that person’s permission.
- A Netflix card does not fit every account. It cannot be applied to an account billed through Apple, or to one in a Netflix-included package, and Netflix says to share the code only with the person it is for.
- A Disney+ card is for US-billed Disney+ plans. It does not cover subscriptions billed through Hulu, Apple or Verizon.
- An Apple Gift Card is for US transactions. Apple’s footnote limits it to U.S. transactions in Apple properties, and the funds go to the Apple Account balance.
- An Audible gift membership does not renew. The page says there are no subscription surprises; a current member receives all the credits at once, and the plan is not extended.
- A Headspace gift is an individual plan. It is not a Family plan.
Sources disagree Headspace’s gift page answers the send-time question two ways: one FAQ says a dated gift goes out at midnight UTC, another says midnight in the buyer’s time zone. For a door that opens on December 14, schedule the gift for the 13th if the difference matters to you, and the card is waiting before the door opens.
Vendors whose pages print no figure here
Some vendors make lovely presents and still print no price this page can quote. Readly (magazines), Skillshare (classes), mydays and Jochen Schweizer (experience vouchers sold in Germany), and GetYourGuide (booked activities) all sell something that works as a gift, and none of their own pages, as read on October 25, 2026, prints a gift price that this page can state; so none is priced here. Steam says its digital gift cards go through the sender’s Steam account to the recipient’s Steam Wallet, and its store page prints no amounts. A Kindle book given as a gift costs what the book costs, the one figure that depends on the title.
A prepaid card from a card network (a Visa or Mastercard e-card) is not suggested as a door: the issuer’s own terms set its fees and dates, and none is read here. Amazon gift cards, named for what they are, are in the table above with the delivery page only; the page does not state denominations.
Free gifts that fit a door
These need no vendor, no checkout and no shipping, and each can be dated.
- An Unlisted YouTube video. Google’s page says unlisted videos can be seen and shared by anyone with the link, that viewers need no Google account, and that the video stays off your channel’s Videos tab and out of search results unless someone adds it to a public playlist. It is not private: “link sharing has no restriction on resharing”. On Vimeo’s free plan only Public and Private exist, and a private video cannot be embedded anywhere.
- A shared Google Photos album. Google’s page says anyone with the link can view the photos and add to the album. One photo a day from each of you and it fills itself.
- A voice memo. Vocaroo’s page shows a free voice recorder that shares a recording by link; the page does not state how long a recording stays online. Download it and keep a copy, so your voice stays yours.
- A library e-book. Libby says thousands of public libraries offer ebooks and audiobooks at no cost through the app. The gift is the recommendation, in a text door, and the library card is theirs.
- A shared playlist. A link door to a playlist on the service you both use. Where cards are no longer sold, as on Spotify’s US page, the playlist is the gift.
How to put a gift behind a door
- Pick the door’s date first. The gift is for a day, not the other way round. If the vendor schedules delivery, set the send date to the door’s date.
- Send the gift to the person, not to the calendar. A code or a claimable link written into a door can be used by anyone who opens the calendar; send it to the person’s own email and put “check your inbox” in the door.
- Check the country. For Google Play, Airbnb and Netflix the page names the country rule above; a card bought in one country may not work in another.
- Write the door. A text door with one line on why you chose it: “for the dark weeks, in whichever time zone”.
- Keep a free door beside every paid one. Doors 19 and 21 in the 24-door plan are tasks and a video. A calendar is not 24 purchases, and it reads better for it.
In the tool A gift door is a text door or a link door in the maker. Put what the gift is and the day to look for it in the text, and send the code itself to the person by email. The calendar goes out as one link by WhatsApp or email, and anyone with that link can open it, so it is the wrong place for a code. Employer gift thresholds for a team calendar are on what HR should know before putting a voucher behind a door.
Put it in a calendar
The template for a partner is a calendar with the doors already laid out; copy it and change the gift door to the one you chose. Or start from an empty calendar: Create your calendar, choose a door, and write the day the gift arrives.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a digital gift card arrive on the day the door opens?
Several can: Google Play, Airbnb, Headspace, a PlayStation card on a reseller’s page, and Amazon let the buyer choose the send date. Send it to the person’s own email and let the door say “check your inbox”.
What can I give someone as a digital gift, with no shipping?
A card or membership sent by email or as a code (the table above), a free Unlisted video, a shared album, a voice memo, or a library book recommendation. The free ones cost nothing and still feel like a present.
Can I put a gift card code in the calendar itself?
It’s better not to. Anyone with the calendar’s link can open every door, and a code or a claimable link works for whoever uses it first. Netflix, for one, says to share a code only with the person it is for.
Does a Netflix gift card expire?
Netflix says gift cards do not expire, and that a card cannot be applied to an account billed through Apple or one in a Netflix-included package.
Can I send a Google Play card to a friend in another country?
Google says a card cannot be redeemed outside the country where it was bought, and that gifting is available in nine countries. Buy it in their country, where Google lists one.
Is an Audible gift membership a subscription?
No. The page says a gift membership does not auto-renew; 1 month is $15 in the US store, read October 25, 2026.
Do Spotify gift cards still exist?
In the US, no: Spotify’s page says cards “are no longer available for purchase”, and existing cards still redeem. That’s what the US page says.
