A Digital Advent Calendar for Your Partner: 24 Doors for a Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Husband or Wife

In a nutshell

A digital advent calendar for a partner is 24 doors that open on their dates in December, sent as one link, with twelve doors that suit any couple and three extra for each of a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband and wife. Most doors cost nothing; the gifts that do cost something arrive by email or as a code.

  • The maker is free, asks for no account, and sends the calendar as one link; the email address you give is used once, for the secret edit link.
  • A video door is a YouTube link set to Unlisted: anyone with the link can watch and reshare it, and ads inside an embedded player cannot be switched off.
  • An Audible gift membership costs $15 for one month and $150 for twelve in the US store, read October 26, 2026, and does not auto-renew.
  • Google Play gift cards cannot be redeemed outside the country where they were bought, and Airbnb requires the billing address country to match the country of purchase.
  • Netflix says its gift cards do not expire, and a card cannot be applied while the account is billed through Apple.

Disclosure: some links on this page are affiliate links, marked by the digital gifts and subscriptions they name. As an Amazon Associate, AdventMyFriend earns from qualifying purchases. A purchase through these links may earn the site a commission at no cost to you, and it never affects what is recommended. How this works.

Somewhere in December, your partner will pick up their phone, see a door with a number on it and wonder what you have done this time. This page is for you, making that calendar for a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife. The first twelve doors work for any couple; the four sections after them split by where the relationship stands rather than by who it is for, so you can swap any section for another. If you want the general list that is not aimed at a partner, see 24 digital advent calendar ideas.

The maker is free: 24 doors, no account for you or for your partner, one link to send, and the email address you enter is used once, to send you the secret link that edits or deletes the calendar. The site earns a commission on some links to digital gifts, which does not affect what is described.

Before the first door

The calendar is a single link. You send it by WhatsApp, email or social media, and a new door opens every day in December. Anyone who has the link can open the calendar, so send it only to your partner and keep it off anywhere others will see it. The same goes for any gift code: put “check your inbox” in a door and send the code to your partner’s own email.

If your partner lives in another city or country, the long-distance version has the time-zone lines written out.

Doors for any partner

  1. A 20-second good-morning video, filmed where you are. Record it on your phone, upload it to YouTube as Unlisted and paste the link in the door. Google’s page says unlisted videos “can be seen and shared by anyone with the link”, viewers need no Google account, and the video stays off your channel’s Videos tab unless someone adds it to a public playlist. A video door is a link to a video on YouTube.
  2. A voice note. Record one on a free online voice recorder such as Vocaroo, which shares a recording as a link, and put the link in the door. It costs nothing and needs no vendor, and it sounds like you.
  3. A shared album you both add to. A link door to a Google Photos album; Google’s page says anyone with the link can view the photos and add to the album. One photo a day from each of you, and by door 24 there are 48.
  4. A letter the length of one screen. A text door written on your phone, so that it reads well on theirs. Nothing in it needs a reply.
  5. Ten small things you noticed this year. A text door, one line each: how they hum while cooking, the way they check the door twice. Specific beats grand.
  6. A book to borrow. Libby says thousands of public libraries offer ebooks and audiobooks at no cost through its app. A text door with the title and one line on why; the library card is theirs, the recommendation is yours.
  7. An Audible gift membership. Audible’s gift page lists one month for $15 (one credit), three months for $45, six for $90 and twelve for $150 in the US store, read October 26, 2026, and says the gift membership does not auto-renew; a current member receives all the credits from a redeemed gift at once. The page does not say how or when the gift is delivered, so put the confirmation in the door on the day.
  8. A Headspace gift for the dark weeks. The buyer chooses the send date at checkout, and only individual plans can be gifted, not Family plans. The page prints no price. It gives two different times for the delivery email, midnight UTC and midnight in the buyer’s time zone, so pick a send date a day early if the hour matters.
  9. An Airbnb gift card for a weekend away. For a digital card bought on Airbnb.com, the email can go immediately or on a scheduled date, or the recipient can claim it from a text message link; Airbnb says its gift cards do not expire and that your billing address country must match the country you are buying from. Write the town in the door, not the amount.
  10. A Google Play gift card, bought in their country. Google says digital cards are typically delivered within the hour by email, text or a shared link, that gifting is available in nine countries (Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the UK and the US), that a card cannot be redeemed outside the country where it was bought, and that a delivery can be scheduled up to a year ahead, on mobile devices in select regions.
  11. A Netflix gift card for a film night. Netflix says its gift cards do not expire and are redeemed at netflix.com/redeem, with the code in the email for a digital card. If the account is billed through Apple, the page says the account has to be cancelled before a card can be used, and that a card cannot be used while the account is linked to a package. Name the film in the door, and the sofa is as good as booked.
  12. An Amazon gift card, sent to them. A gift card from Amazon is named here as a gift and nothing more; there is no link on this page. Send it to the one person and put “check your email” in the door.

Good to know The free doors above (an unlisted video, a voice note, a shared album, a library book) say more than the paid ones do. A paid gift is a good thing behind one or two doors, not 24. And an unlisted video is not private: Google’s own wording is that link sharing “has no restriction on resharing”.

For a boyfriend

A relationship in its first year or two has more questions and plans in it than shared history, so these doors ask and propose.

  1. A question per door. A text door with one question to answer by voice note: “What is the best meal you have ever eaten, and who was there?” Ten of these across the month, and you will have learned something new by door 24.
  2. The songs from your first month. A link door to a playlist of what you both played in your first weeks, with one line on which song was which date.
  3. A place you want to take him. A text door that says where, when and what you will eat. The booking can follow.

For a girlfriend

These doors lean toward dates written down in full, so that each one becomes a plan she can look forward to.

  1. A Saturday written out. A text door that sets the whole day: where to meet, what time, what to wear, what to bring. The door is the invitation.
  2. The first message you ever sent her. An image door with a screenshot of it, and one line on what you were thinking when you hit send. Check that you are both happy with the message being behind a link first.
  3. A voice note for the night before something big. A recording on Vocaroo, saved for the door that opens the night before an interview or an exam.

For a husband

After a long marriage you already own an archive, and these doors open it.

  1. A photo from ten years ago, and what you remember of that day. An image door with three lines of text under it. The detail nobody else remembers is what earns it a door.
  2. The thing he does that you have never said you notice. A text door, three sentences. Say it once, in writing, in December.
  3. A recipe he cooks, typed out. A text door, with the line the recipe never had: when you first ate it, and what he said.

For a wife

Here the gift is time, taken off a list and handed back.

  1. A morning off. A text door: “Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon: I have the house and everyone in it; you have nothing”. Put the date in the door and keep it.
  2. A thank-you for one specific thing. A text door, with the date it happened: “Thank you for driving to the airport at 5 a.m. on March 3”.
  3. The longest video you have recorded. Two minutes, one take, about the year. The last door gets read more than once; door 24 has more on how to end a calendar.

In the tool The maker’s doors hold an uploaded image, a message, a YouTube video, a GIF or a link, and a new door opens every day in December. Doors 1 and 24 are video doors (a YouTube link, set to Unlisted); doors 2, 3, 14 and 18 are link doors; doors 17 and 19 are image doors; the rest are text. Videos are links to YouTube, not uploads. When the 24 are filled, the calendar goes out as one link by WhatsApp, email or social media, and the secret link in your inbox opens it for changes.

Put it in a calendar

The template for a partner has these 24 doors laid out; copy it, change the names, and delete the sections that do not fit. Or start from an empty one: Create your calendar, pick a background, and fill door 1 tonight.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I put in an advent calendar for my boyfriend?

A voice note, a photo from an ordinary day, a question to answer, the songs from your first month, a plan for a Saturday written out, and one or two gifts that arrive by email. Each door holds one message, image, YouTube video, GIF or link.

Is there an advent calendar for couples?

Yes. A digital advent calendar is 24 doors sent as one link, free to make and needing no account for the person who opens it. The doors above are written for a couple.

What should I put in an advent calendar for my husband or wife?

Doors that use the history you share: a photo from ten years ago with what you remember of it, a recipe typed out with the story, a morning off with the date written in. The sections for a husband and a wife above give three each, and twelve more suit either.

Can a gift card arrive on the day the door opens?

Some vendors let the buyer choose the date. Airbnb schedules email delivery for a future date, Headspace lets the buyer choose the send date, and Google Play offers scheduling up to a year ahead on mobile in select regions. Send the card to your partner’s own email and let the door say “check your inbox”.

Can I give a gift card from another country?

Check the card’s own page first. Google says a Play card cannot be redeemed outside the country where it was bought, and Airbnb requires the billing address country to match the country of purchase.

Will the video doors show ads?

If the video is on YouTube, ads can play inside the embedded player; Google says the ads follow the same settings as on YouTube, cannot be turned off for embeds alone, and pay only YouTube and the video’s owner.

Does my partner need an account?

No. The site’s page says anyone can open the calendar directly via the link, and the only email address involved is yours, used once for the edit link.
