Thursday, December 6 - Thursday of the First Week of Advent Isaiah 26:1-6; Psalm 118: 1, 8-9, 19-21, 25-27; Matthew 7:21, 24-27 Daniel Sweeney ‘19 God as Our Strength “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.” Psalm 118:8 As Catholics we are always told to find rest in God. When we are busy and need an extra hand, we can ask God for help. When we are worried, we can look to God’s love to give us comfort. I think it is important to truly look at why this is. In Isaiah the people talk about their city and how God’s salvation make up the “walls” of their city because the city has a strong faith. If we take time in Advent to build a strong relationship with God, then his salivation can become sturdy support systems in our life as well. It is also crucial to remember that God is enduring and eternal whereas humans’ life on earth are not. That being said, we must find eternal love and compassion through our creator, the one who saves us from sin.
