Wednesday, December 5 – Wednesday of the First Week of Advent Isaiah 25:6-10; Psalm 23:1-6; Matthew 15:29-37 Mrs. Kate Phenicie, Spiritual Life Director Season’s Eatings “On this mountain the Lord will provide for all peoples a feast of rich food and choice wines, juicy, rich food, and pure, choice wines.” Isaiah 25:6 This is my favorite time of year for food. Who doesn’t love a cold glass of creamy egg nog, steaming mugs of hot chocolate swirled high with whipped cream, or a spicy slice of gingerbread? There are so many temptations at this time of year to eat until our bellies shake like bowls full of jelly. However, this Gospel reminds us that, no matter how much we crave another Cranberry Bliss Bar, there is a better food, something that we are craving more deeply – the Eucharist. This is ultimately the BEST food. As we prepare our hearts to welcome Jesus as a baby in a lowly manger, He chooses to come to us every day in another lowly way: a piece of simple bread. Try to carve out time this Advent to spend time in Adoration, reflecting on this great mystery.
