Comfort for God’s People “He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; He gently leads those that have young.” Isaiah 40:11 Especially in earlier accounts of Scripture, God is often misunderstood as wrathful and estranged from humanity; the interpretation of God can leave us to feel separated, even isolated, from having a connection to him. Isaiah assures us that not only does God want to be in communion with his people, but loves us enough to offer guidance, protection, and His divine grace. As we dedicate this time of year for sincere reflection, God invites us with open arms, comforting humanity through light and darkness, in the hopes of being reunited in the kingdom of heaven.
