Monday, December 10 – Monday of the Second Week of Advent Isaiah 35:1-10; Psalm 85:9-14; Luke 5:17-26 Tessa Beauchat, ‘19 There are many passages in the bible that describe the coming of Jesus; it is described as a beautiful renewal of the Earth in Isaiah, the Psalms provide a hopeful account of our salvation, and in the Gospels, God's saving powers are manifested in Jesus. The hopeful description of the coming of the Messiah is represented in Christ, as by coming to Earth and dying for our sins he saved us all. The gift of eternal life is beautiful, and the hope it entails is inspiring. In the Advent and Christmas seasons, we should be reminded of this sense of hope for our eternal life with God, and embrace the feelings of anticipation associated with it.
